Coastal Restoration and Wetlands
Limitless Vistas, Inc. recently received Bayouside Classroom Teacher Training from the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) through a grant funded by the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP). LVI is now qualified to teach Bayouside Classroom lessons and collect and report water quality samples back to LUMCON to help build their water quality database.
The Bayouside Classroom lessons and activities teach students about estuaries and watersheds while conducting scientific data collection. The goal of the program is to train students as young scientists, and promote stewardship through awareness that local environments function as part of larger, connected ecosystems.
LVI is obligated to collect at least 4 samples per year. However, with our unique environmental technician training program, samples will be collected more often to help increase and reinforce student’s knowledge and skills in collecting environmental samples, keeping field notes, preventing cross contamination of samples, how to perform field testing, and how to enter data into a database. All of these skills are needed to perform environmental technician duties.
